And prepares itineraries for the boss or chairman’s travel. The nature of the secretary’s work is such that demands certain degree of confidence and a good rapport must exist between her and here boss and this may lead to a social suspicion about such a relationship which might affect matrimonial relationship.
During the colonial era, performances of secretaries were seen merely as copiers and typist who typed out whatever was given to them by employers. An extract from Azuka E.B. and Agomo E.E., states that secretaries were seen as just mere servant who could be hired and fired at will. Therefore, no significant attachment was placed on secretaries because they were not seen to possess nor exercise initiatives. They never could took part in managerial policies but the manager or boss hire secretaries just for a specific task or purpose who will not be there to monitor duties especially in the absent of the boss. But as the world became more civilized professionalism came in to be in many fields of endeavours even in secretaryship.
